A new UNESCO Chair in Digital Science is planned to be opened in Turkmenistan

Yesterday, Turkmenistan's Minister of Education, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, met with UNESCO Director-General Khaled Al-Enany at UNESCO headquarters in Paris to discuss prospects for cooperation in education. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

The parties discussed the prospects for opening a new UNESCO Chair in Digital Science and developing cooperation with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education.

The UNESCO Director-General commended Turkmenistan's ongoing efforts, emphasizing the systemic and forward-looking nature of its reforms aimed at ensuring high-quality and accessible education. The country's active participation in the international education dialogue and its contribution to the implementation of SDG 4 were also noted.

The implementation of UNESCO programmes in Turkmenistan was also highly praised, including the work of UNESCO Chairs, Associated Schools and the participation of the country's universities in international academic networks.

Particular attention was paid to the Lifelong Learning initiative, including the participation of the city of Ashgabat in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
