Hisense TVs showed ads when turned on and when changing sources during testing

Owners of Hisense TVs have complained of commercials appearing when turning on their devices and switching signal sources, according to Tom's Hardware.

The complaints were primarily from users of entry-level models running the VIDAA (Home OS) operating system. Similar reports have also been reported by owners of other brands of TVs running this platform. The largest number of complaints came from Spain and the UK, with isolated cases reported in other countries as well.

According to users, commercials appeared when switching HDMI sources and changing TV channels—in areas of the interface where ads had previously not appeared. Some device owners resolved the issue themselves by changing DNS servers; others disabled the ads by contacting the company's support team via email.

Hisense attributed the situation to a limited testing of advertising formats in the Spanish market. The company stated that the experiment was aimed solely at evaluating formats related to free content within the platform and did not affect the basic functionality of the TVs: HDMI inputs, external devices, game consoles, and streaming services remained accessible as usual.

The company announced that the testing has been completed, and the advertising format has been removed from the Spanish market.
