Turkmenistan's gross domestic product grew by 6,3% in January-February of this year. The corresponding report was presented at a Cabinet of Ministers meeting chaired by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Hojamyrat Geldimyradov's report, GDP growth in industry amounted to 1,9%, in construction – 6%, in transport and communications – 10,5%, in trade – 8,5%, in agriculture – 2,4%, and in services – 8,4%. The volume of manufactured goods increased by 10,3% compared to the same period last year. Retail turnover increased by 10,3%, and foreign trade turnover – by 0,8%.
State budget revenues were executed at 102,1%, and expenditures at 97% during the reporting period. Capital investment from all funding sources increased by 21,3%. Wages, pensions, state benefits, and student scholarships were paid on time.
In summing up, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of effective economic development, maintaining high GDP growth rates, and monitoring the implementation of production plans by ministries and agencies. He also instructed the government to ensure the socioeconomic development of the velayats.
