A cluster of large nomadic jellyfish has been recorded on the beaches of Antalya

Nomad jellyfish (Rhopilema nomadica) have appeared on the coast of the Turkish resort of Antalya, the IHA news agency reported.

This species is distinguished by its large size: a single specimen can weigh up to 10 kilograms, and its tentacles can reach 1.5 meters in length. According to Akdeniz University researcher Mehmet Gökoğlu, the jellyfish entered the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal and are gradually moving west. Due to strong winds, a significant number of them have concentrated in the Gulf of Antalya.

According to the scientist, jellyfish will remain present in the area until June. Vacationers are advised to avoid contact with them.
