On 4 March 2026, as part of an educational session for youth organized by UNDP in Turkmenistan, students from the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan discussed the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation in advancing society and the economy.

During the session, UNDP international expert Mr. Tristan Post explained how AI is transforming education, public services, and future job markets, highlighting the importance of digital skills, ethics, and the responsible use of technology.

Participants explored the evolution of AI — from its early development to today’s advanced systems — and discussed how automation and emerging technologies are reshaping the labor market. The discussion focused on skills that will remain in demand, emerging professions, and the broader impact of AI on society.

The series of educational sessions “Youth and Digital Transformation: Innovations for Sustainable Development” is scheduled for 2026 in partnership with the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between UNDP and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan (2024).

The sessions provide young people with opportunities to learn about digital technologies and strengthen their knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They reflect UNDP’s commitment to empowering youth as drivers of innovation and sustainable development, equipping them with tools to contribute to shaping the country’s digital future.
