The Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Archaeology at University College London (UCL) signed an agreement to expand their partnership in the study and preservation of the country's archaeological heritage, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
The document was signed following a meeting between the Turkmen delegation, led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, and UCL Professor Timothy Williams during a visit to the UK.
During the conversation, the Turkmen side noted Williams's long-standing contribution to the study of Turkmenistan's monuments, including ancient Merv. The parties emphasized the importance of joint scientific research and museum and exhibition cooperation.
The agreement provides for joint expeditions, the development of scientific research, and the training of specialists.
