Yesterday, the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework between Turkmenistan and the United Nations held a regular meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the meeting was held in a hybrid format and was attended by leaders and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, a number of ministries and departments of the country, the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, and heads and representatives of UN departments.
Participants reviewed the results of joint work for 2025 and discussed priority areas of cooperation for 2026.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan M. Bashimova noted that the Cooperation Framework is a key strategic document defining the priorities for interaction between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN system.
It was emphasized that the Framework Program creates a solid and long-term foundation for partnership with the UN and its agencies, strengthening the country's position at the regional and global levels. The Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030 was signed in October 2025 during the UN Day celebrations.
As noted, Turkmenistan's future engagement with the UN will be inextricably linked to the national priorities outlined at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. Peace, the environmental agenda, social progress, and strengthening international ties remain the focus, the source notes.
