Google I/O 2026 will take place on May 19–20: the conference promises news about AI and Android

Google has announced the dates for its annual developer conference, Google I/O 2026, which will take place on May 19 and 20. The opening ceremony is scheduled for May 19 at 10:00 Pacific Time.

The conference will feature keynotes from company executives, product demonstrations, and technical sessions. Topics include updates to the Gemini AI assistant, the Android operating system, and other Google developments.

The event traditionally takes place at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, near the company's California headquarters. Google has been holding I/O since 2016; the exception was 2020, when the conference was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2021 it was held online. This year, the event will again be two days long.

The announcement of the dates was accompanied by an unusual twist: before the official announcement, Google invited users to guess the dates themselves by solving a themed puzzle.

The full program and list of sessions will be published closer to the conference. Online registration is now open and free.
