On February 14, asteroid 162882 (2001 FD58) will pass by Earth—the largest celestial object to approach our planet in the past twelve months. It measures approximately one kilometer in diameter.

According to MIR24, citing a report from specialists at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS), the asteroid will pass relatively close to Earth but pose no threat. The probability of a collision with the planet is estimated at zero.
