Turkmenistan and Germany discussed deepening cooperation within the UN and OSCE

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov participated in a joint meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.

During the meeting, the parties confirmed the progressive development of Turkmen-German relations and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation within the Central Asia-Germany format, as well as interaction on international platforms, primarily within the UN and the OSCE.

Interest in expanding partnerships in the areas of transport, energy, green transformation, education, and healthcare was noted.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding their mutually beneficial partnership.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan also met with Dominik Mutter, Director of the Political Department of the German Foreign Ministry, during which the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.

On the same day in Berlin, Gurbanov took part in a joint meeting between the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag, Armin Laschet, and delegations from the foreign ministries of Central Asian countries.

The parties highly praised the dynamic of interparliamentary cooperation. They emphasized the importance of further strengthening contacts between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the German Bundestag, as well as intensifying the work of relevant parliamentary friendship groups. In this context, they proposed exploring the possibility of organizing regular meetings between the heads and representatives of the parliaments of the two countries.

During the conversation, the active cooperation between Turkmenistan and Germany on the international stage, particularly within the UN and the OSCE, was also noted.

Gurbanov invited Laschet and members of the German delegation to visit Turkmenistan at their convenience. At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening their mutually beneficial partnership across a wide range of areas.
