Billboards and decorative installations supporting the “Arkadag” football club have appeared on Ashgabat's central streets ahead of the AFC Champions League 2 Round of 16 match against Saudi Arabia's “Al-Nasr”.
Banner posters supporting the Turkmen team have been displayed on billboards and public displays throughout the capital. Decorative installations featuring the team's mascot, an Alabai dog in a football uniform, holding a ball, have also been installed. All of these installations are part of a large-scale citywide advertising campaign organized in the lead-up to the historic match.
The first match between “Arkadag” and “Al-Nasr” will take place on February 11 at 18:45 local time at the Olympic Stadium in Ashgabat. The return match is scheduled for February 18 in Riyadh.
“Al-Nassr's” squad includes five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo. The team also features João Félix, Sadio Mané, Kingsley Coman, Iñigo Martínez, Marcelo Brozović, and Brazilians Bento Krepski and Gabriel Angelo. The team is led by 71-year-old Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus.
“Al-Nasr” is considered one of the tournament's favourites.
