Josh D'Amaro will become the new head of Disney

The Disney Board of Directors announced the appointment of Josh D'Amaro as CEO. He will succeed Bob Iger, who has led the company since 2005.

D'Amaro has been with Disney since 1998. During his tenure, he held various positions in business, marketing, and operations. Since 2020, D'Amaro has headed Disney's Theme Parks division.

Bob Iger first became Disney's CEO in 2005. During his tenure, the company acquired Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and the assets of 21st Century Fox, and launched the Disney+ streaming service. Iger stepped down as CEO in 2020, but returned to the role in 2022 for two years to search for a successor. In 2023, his contract was extended until the end of 2026.

According to the board's announcement, Iger will serve as Disney's acting CEO until March 18, after which D'Amaro will assume his responsibilities. Iger will leave the company permanently on December 31.
