Two stores collapsed in Cairo

A ground subsidence incident occurred in the Egyptian capital. Surveillance footage captured the moment the ground collapsed near a gas station, rg.ru reports.

The footage shows how, on a normal day, the ground beneath two stores located next to a gas station began to subside. Within about a minute, a hole approximately 15 meters in diameter and depth formed where the stores once stood, trapping both buildings.

Experts believe the collapse could have been caused by excavation work taking place nearby. Construction workers were presumably digging a foundation pit for a new building.

According to local police, two people who were in the stores at the time of the incident were rescued. The victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
