Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the CIS will significantly strengthen the Commonwealth's position as a platform for equal cooperation and trust, as well as expand economic and transport ties between member states. This confidence was expressed by Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Russia, Esen Aydogdyev, at a meeting of the Commission on Economic Affairs of the CIS Economic Council.

"Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the Commonwealth will significantly strengthen the CIS's position as a platform for equal cooperation and trust, serve to expand economic and transport ties between member states, and coordinate new approaches to addressing the pressing challenges of the XXI century," the Turkmen Foreign Ministry quoted the diplomat as saying.

During the meeting, Aydogdyev presented the Concept for Turkmenistan's CIS Presidency in 2026, which covers political, economic, transport, energy, and humanitarian cooperation. The country intends to promote regional security, advance the principles of neutrality, and intensify diplomatic interaction within the Commonwealth.

The meeting participants warmly congratulated Aydogdyev on the beginning of Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the CIS and assured him of their full support for Ashgabat's initiatives.
