Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has approved the modernization of the Ashgabat–Turkmenbashy railway. Deputy Prime Minister Mammethan Chakyev presented the proposal at a Cabinet meeting, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
The highway connects various regions of the country with the International Seaport of Turkmenbashy and is a key link in the integration of national railways into the international transport corridors Lapis Lazuli, TRACECA, “North-South” and “East-West”.
The head of state noted the effective progress in developing the country's transport and logistics system and increasing its transit potential. The Deputy Prime Minister was instructed to implement the modernization project.
