A rare Celtic coin discovered by a treasure hunter in a rural field was sold at auction in the UK, according to Lincolnshire World.
The find is a gold stater minted by the Celtic Corieltau tribe between 50 and 10 BC. According to available data, only two examples of this type of coin have been found to date.
Bidding for the coin was intensely competitive. Two bidders remained in contention until the auction's close: a representative from Northern Ireland and a private collector from London. The London collector emerged victorious, raising his bid by 200 pounds sterling in the final ten seconds of the auction. The final price of the coin reached 3,3 thousand pounds.
