Christmas services were held in Orthodox churches in Turkmenistan

On the night of January 6-7, festive services in honor of the Nativity of Christ were held in all Orthodox churches across Turkmenistan. Hundreds of believers from across the country attended the festive services.

Christmas services began late in the evening of January 6th and continued until the morning of January 7th. An all-night vigil was held in churches, followed by a solemn Divine Liturgy. Clergy in festive vestments performed traditional rites, and the faithful prayed and received Holy Communion. At the end of the service, parishioners congratulated each other on the great holiday.

Christmas is one of the most important holidays in the Christian calendar and commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. The Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas on January 7th according to the New Style, which corresponds to December 25th according to the Julian calendar. This day symbolizes the coming of the Savior into the world and is a time of spiritual joy, mercy, and reconciliation.

In Turkmenistan, members of various religious communities are free to celebrate their holidays. Orthodox churches operate in Ashgabat and other cities across the country where the Christian community resides.

The festive services were held in an atmosphere of solemnity and spiritual unity among the believers.
