The Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a ceremony today to present the special children's award named after Gulbaba.
This award is given annually to young talented people of Turkmenistan under the age of 18 – winners of subject Olympiads, intellectual and creative competitions, and sports competitions.
According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, this year, 99 competition participants and four creative groups received special diplomas and commemorative gifts: the "Joşgun" dance ensemble, the "Galkynyş" recitation group, the children's choir of the "Jahan" creative center, and kindergarten students from the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Children's Health and Rehabilitation Center. The selection process for the award began at the regional, city, and village levels. The best participants were selected to participate in the national round.
The event traditionally takes place during the winter holidays and New Year's celebrations. Organized by the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan and the country's Ministry of Education, it annually attracts hundreds of the most talented young people.
The event was preceded by a video screening dedicated to the creative legacy of the talented boy Gulbaba, possessor of a captivating voice who left an indelible mark on the history of Turkmen music. Despite his short life, he made a significant contribution to the national musical heritage, achieving the heights of mastery and winning the sincere love of the people.
In a solemn atmosphere, to the applause of the event participants, the names of the winners were announced, who were awarded valuable prizes and diplomas as competition laureates.
As per tradition, the main New Year characters, Ayaz Baba and Garpamyk, congratulated the children on their well-deserved awards. Theatrical performances featuring characters from Turkmen folk tales were performed, and the Gulbaba Children's Prize laureates themselves also performed on stage.
