Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on organizing cotton production in 2026, instructing that planned targets be met through the rational use of resources and compliance with agricultural standards. This was reported by the “Watan” news program.
According to the document, the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Concern "Türkmenpagta" and the hakimliks of the Ahal, Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary velayats must ensure the fulfillment of the cotton production plan by organizing the work of tenants, land users and landowners at a high level.
The distribution of cotton seeds across the districts will be carried out taking into account soil and climatic conditions in accordance with a plan approved by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Based on contracts with cotton producers, the resolution requires them to be provided with all necessary resources within the timeframes established by agricultural standards. The State Concern "Türkmenpagta" is to provide high-quality cotton seeds, while the State Association "Türkmenobahyzmat" will provide technical services for land preparation, sowing, crop care, and harvesting. The State Water Management Committee will provide irrigation water, and the State Concern "Türkmenhimiýa" will provide mineral fertilizers.
The document aims to further increase cotton production through the rational use of land, water resources, agricultural machinery, and fertilizers, as well as high-quality agricultural practices.
