On Christmas Eve, a large shipment of live lobsters worth approximately 400 thousand USD was stolen in the United States. The seafood disappeared while being transported to a Costco supermarket in Illinois.
According to Fox News, the theft was carried out by an organized crime group specializing in high-value cargo theft. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
According to law enforcement agencies, such crimes cause significant damage to the country's economy. Annual losses from cargo theft are estimated at between 15 and 35 billion USD. Authorities note that such thefts ultimately lead to higher retail prices for consumers.
