Preparations for the New Year's holidays have begun in Turkmenistan's capital. The main Christmas tree has been erected in the square in front of the Älem cultural and entertainment center, where a festive lighting ceremony was held with the participation of Ayaz Baba.
Ashgabat's streets and parks are decorated with garlands of lights. The coniferous trees growing in public spaces look especially festive—pines and cypresses are adorned with multicolored lights. In residential areas, including “Parahat-7”, New Year's trees glow in the windows of buildings.
The Christmas tree markets at the “Altyn Asyr” and “Gülüstan” bazaars and other retail outlets offer a wide selection of artificial trees in various sizes and styles, as well as Christmas tree decorations. Models with a snow-covered effect and built-in lighting are popular.
The “Berkarar”, “Gül Zemin”, and “Arkaç” shopping and entertainment centers, as well as the Bereketli complex in the “Parahat-7” residential complex, have organized pre-holiday sales. The stores offer a wide selection of locally produced groceries, including confectionery, meat products, fresh fruits and vegetables. The “Hasar” confectionery company has released new varieties of chocolates for the holiday, including "Aýyjyk" with various fillings and "Panda" with marmalade. Ready-made gift sets for children are particularly popular.
A luminous composition with the numbers "2026" has been installed in the capital's central squares, symbolizing the coming New Year.
