The delegation of Turkmenistan to the OSCE made a statement in Vienna at a meeting of the organization's Permanent Council, which took place on December 18.
In its statement, Turkmenistan, emphasizing the significance of International Neutrality Day, celebrated annually on December 12, noted that neutrality is an active tool for peace, aimed at building trust, preventing conflicts, and promoting cooperation. The Turkmen side also emphasized that neutrality facilitates dialogue, mediation, and strengthening mutual understanding, which is especially important in today's regional and global context.
It was noted that 2025 is particularly significant, as it marks the 30th anniversary of the international recognition of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust declared by the UN General Assembly. In this context, Turkmenistan informed the participating states of the results of the High-Level International Conference held in Ashgabat and dedicated to dialogue, preventive diplomacy, and comprehensive security.
The delegation also noted the recent visit of OSCE Secretary General Feridun H.Sinirlioglu to Ashgabat, which confirmed the parties' commitment to further deepening cooperation in the areas of preventive diplomacy, regional connectivity, and environmental security.
At the same time, Turkmenistan expressed hope that the idea of neutrality and positive non-alignment will receive due consideration in future discussions, including during the Swiss Chairmanship in 2026. As this meeting was the last of the year, Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the Finnish Chairmanship for its professional and inclusive leadership during 2025, noting its contribution to advancing dialogue and the Helsinki principles.
