The main celebrations to mark Turkmenistan's Oil and Gas Industry and Geology Workers' Day took place on December 14 at the country's oil and gas complex, with industry leaders, representatives of relevant organizations, and workforces participating.
According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, a conference entitled "Achievements in the Oil and Gas Industry during the International Year of Peace and Trust" was held there.
The forum began with the reading of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's congratulatory address to industry workers.
The conference participants then delivered speeches. As noted, the Turkmenistan-China international gas pipeline was commissioned on December 14, 2009. Therefore, it is highly symbolic that this day, inscribed in golden letters in the country's history, was declared Oil and Gas Industry and Geology Workers' Day.
The industry's achievements include the discovery of new oil and gas fields in various parts of the country, the Turkmenistan-China and East-West gas pipelines, and the launch of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India transnational gas pipeline project, which is currently under implementation.
The speeches noted that, in accordance with national programs, comprehensive measures are being implemented to significantly increase production in the oil and gas sector.
The most outstanding oil and gas workers, geologists, and other fuel and energy sector employees were presented with valuable gifts on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
An awards ceremony was then held for the winners of creative competitions organized by the Council of the Trade Union of Oil and Gas Workers of Turkmenistan jointly with the state-owned concerns “Turkmengaz” and “Turkmennebit”, as well as the editorial staff of the “Nebit-gaz” newspaper.
To mark the professional holiday, a concert featuring Turkmen artists was held at the Cultural and Business Center of the Oil and Gas Complex, the source noted.
