A delegation led by Spanish Ambassador to Moscow Ricardo Martínez met with the Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, during which the parties discussed the implementation of the presidential initiative to establish a specialized regional center to combat desertification in Central Asia.
The diplomat congratulated the Turkmen side on International Neutrality Day and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome. During the talks, particular attention was paid to prospects for bilateral cooperation in environmental protection, combating desertification, and managing plastic waste.
The key topic of the meeting was the proposal by the President of Turkmenistan, voiced at the UN General Assembly, to establish a regional mechanism to combat desertification for Central Asian states. The parties identified potential areas of cooperation on this environmental issue.
