Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov outlined the country's foreign policy objectives for 2026, with strengthening relations with the countries of Central Asia and the Caspian region remaining a priority. The head of state made this statement at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
According to Serdar Berdimuhamedov, close partnership with member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization will be continued in the economic, energy, transport, and communications sectors.
The President noted that Turkmenistan will significantly expand its cooperation with countries in South Asia, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.
The head of state also emphasized the need to implement the “Great Silk Road” strategy, which forms a link in the transport and transit corridor from Asia to Europe.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that we will continue to build equitable, mutually beneficial relations with European countries based on mutual respect. "Particular attention must be paid to cooperation with them in high technology, the transition to green energy, and the implementation of artificial intelligence," the President added.
The head of state also announced plans to consistently expand cooperation with countries in North and South America and the African continent. Among the areas of cooperation, he highlighted partnerships with the UN and other international organizations.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced that a large number of international events are planned for the coming year. In 2026, the country will celebrate the 35th anniversary of independence, and Turkmenistan will host the VIII Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. Furthermore, in 2026, Turkmenistan will chair the Commonwealth of Independent States and host the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
