On Tuesday, November 18, the Turkmenistan national football team will play a home match in the fifth round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying tournament against Chinese Taipei. The match will take place at “Arkadag” stadium in the “smart” city of the same name and will kick off at 18:45 Ashgabat time.
Admission to the 10 thousand-seat stadium will be free. This will be the Turkmenistan national team's second match at the “Arkadag” Arena. On October 14, the Turkmen footballers already defeated Sri Lanka 2-1 there in the same qualifying round.
The upcoming match is of great importance for the competition in group D. Turkmenistan, with 9 points, is tied for the lead in the group with Thailand (also with 9 points) and is hoping for a top result against Chinese Taipei, which has lost all four of its previous matches.
Sri Lanka and Thailand will face off in a parallel group D match on Tuesday in Colombo (kickoff at 15:15). The group D match is expected to remain tight until the final, sixth round.
This will be the seventh face-to-face meeting between Turkmenistan and Chinese Taipei. Historically, the Turkmen team has demonstrated absolute dominance, winning all six previous matches by a combined score of 15-3.
According to the current FIFA rankings, Turkmenistan is ranked 142nd, while Chinese Taipei is ranked 174th. The Turkmen team is expected to wear green, while their opponents will wear white.
