Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, and South Africa's Ambassador to Belgium, Thokozile Hasa, met in Brussels to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation, according to the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Brussels.
Brussels Africa Hub President Muktar Bach also attended the meeting. The parties discussed potential cooperation in energy, agriculture, and logistics.
As Sapar Palvanov noted, Turkmenistan, with its significant energy resources, is actively developing clean and renewable energy projects. South Africa, in turn, has experience in technological modernization of the energy sector, opening up opportunities for technology exchange.
In the agricultural sector, the meeting participants discussed prospects for mutual exchange of experience. South Africa is one of the largest producers and exporters of agricultural products on the African continent. Both countries are interested in strengthening food security and developing sustainable agricultural practices.
The parties separately discussed issues of port management and logistics, taking into account the strategic importance of South Africa's transport infrastructure, which boasts the largest port on the continent.
The meeting participants also discussed preparations for the G20 summit, which will be held in November in South Africa, and side events on energy security with the participation of representatives from Turkmenistan's energy sector.
The parties discussed the idea of establishing a new dialogue format in Brussels between ambassadors of African Union and Central Asian countries to strengthen interregional cooperation.
