Today, October 21, Turkmenistan's Ahal Football Club will play an away match in the third round of the AFC Champions League 2 group stage against Iranian side Sepahan. The match will take place at the Naqsh-e Jahan Stadium in Isfahan. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 PM Ashgabat time. A live stream of the match will be available on the official YouTube channel of the Asian Football Confederation.
The match was originally scheduled to take place in Arkadag, but the Asian Football Confederation decided to move the game to Iran.
After two rounds, Jordanian club Al Hussein leads group C with six points. The team won 1-0 at home and 4-1 away against Sepahan and Ahal.
Ahal's standing in the tournament was complicated by the AFC's decision to exclude Indian side Mohun Bagan from the tournament. The confederation annulled the Turkmen club's 1-0 victory over the Indian champions in the first round (in Kolkata). The Indian team was disqualified for failing to appear for an away match against Sepahan.
Thirty-one teams from 22 countries are participating in the AFC Champions League II group stage this season. The clubs are divided geographically into Western and Eastern Zones. The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs.
