On August 15, the Indian Embassy in Ashgabat held a ceremonial celebration of the 79th anniversary of India's Independence Day, the embassy's social media page reported.
The ceremony was opened by Indian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, who raised the Indian national flag and addressed those present.

The event included presentations on the “Har Ghar Tiranga” (Flag in Every Home) campaign, an initiative aimed at popularising the national flag among Indian citizens.
The event was attended by embassy staff, representatives of the Indian community in Turkmenistan, and local friends of India.
Independence Day is one of the most important public holidays in India, marking the country's liberation from British colonial rule on August 15, 1947.
