From August 3 to 13, 2025, the Central Asian Traditional Karate Championship is being held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The Turkmenistan national team demonstrated high results, winning prizes in various age categories.
Following the competition, Turkmen athletes received 9 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals. The young karatekas performed most successfully in the individual disciplines of kata and kumite.
Gold medals were won by: Shamyrat Hojageldiyev (two gold medals in the 6-7 age group), Aylar Azadova (10-11 years old), Damir Allaberdiyev (10-11 years old), Medina Kazakova (12-13 years old), Adylsha Atayev (14-15 years old), Ibrahim Shagulyev (16-17 years old), Nurgeldi Annagurbanov (18-21 years old) and Hemra Begjanov (18-20 years old).
Silver medals were awarded to Aylar Ilhanova (two awards in the 10-11 age group) and Selim Myratdurdyev (21-25 years old). Bronze medalists were Mahri Sahatova (12-13 years old), Suleyman Rovshenov (12-13 years old), Soltansha Atanyyazov (16-17 years old) and Serdar Bayriev (16-17 years old).
About 500 athletes from 5 countries of the region took part in the championship. Turkmen karatekas represented various educational institutions of the country, including schools in Ashgabat, Ahal and Dashoguz velayats, as well as higher educational institutions.
