The Turkmenistan U12 Girls Tennis Team qualified for the first time for the final stage of the Asian Team Championship (ATF 12U Team Competition), which will be held in Singapore. The Turkmen athletes won the ticket at the Central Asian Championship in Fergana, Uzbekistan, the Golden Age online newspaper reported.
Teams from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan participated in the tournament. The right to play in the final round was received by the two best teams.
Nazli Hudaykuliyeva, Sahra Garakhanova and Sulgun Ishankuliyeva represented the women’s team of Turkmenistan. All three athletes are training under the guidance of Yuri Rogussky, who served as the team captain.
The Turkmen tennis players played the decisive match against the Kyrgyz team confidently. Sahra Garahanova defeated Aliya Mansurova with a score of 6:0, 6:1 in the first singles match. In the second match, Nazli Hudaykuliyeva won an unconditional victory over Aida Abduvaliyeva – 6:0, 6:0. In doubles, Sulgun Ishankulieva and Nazli Hudaykuliyeva completed the rout of their opponents, beating the Mansurova/Abduvaliyeva duo – 6:1, 6:0.
The final score of the match was 3:0 in favor of Turkmenistan. The team won the silver medals of the tournament, losing only to the Kazakhstan team, which became the champion.
The men's team of Turkmenistan under 12, for which Yunus Annamuradov, Egenmammed Nuryagdyev and Erkin Altiyev played, also did not leave without awards at this tournament. Having defeated the team of Kyrgyzstan in the last round - 3:0, the wards of Mirali Gasanov won bronze medals. The first two places were taken by tennis players from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, respectively.
This is already the second major success of Turkmen tennis in children's tournaments. Two years ago, the men's team under 12, led by Yuri Rogusskiy, also reached the final stage of the Asian Championship for the first time, sensationally beating the team of Uzbekistan.
