At the eighth meeting of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the seventh convocation, an important draft amendment to the law "On Migration" was considered, which will significantly simplify the procedure for entry of foreign citizens into the country.

The law will be supplemented with provisions on issuing electronic visas to foreign citizens and stateless persons through a single information system. This innovation is fully consistent with Turkmenistan's national strategic priorities for digitalization and modernization of public services.

Turkmenistan's “Law on Migration”, adopted in 2012, has been updated and improved 13 times during its existence. The last update to the current proposed amendments was registered on June 3, 2023.
