The Turkish national team defeated the Austrian team in the 1/8 finals of the European Championship. The game took place in Leipzig and ended with the victory of the Turkish team with a score of 2:1.
Defender Merih Demiral scored twice, scoring goals in the 1st and 59th minutes of the match. His first goal, scored in the 57th second, became the fastest in the history of the European Championships playoffs. For Austria, Michael Gregoric reduced the score in the 66th minute.
In another match of the 1/8 finals, the Dutch team defeated the Romanian team with a score of 3:0. The goals were scored by Cody Gakpo (in the 20th minute) and Donyell Malen (in the 83rd minute and in stoppage time in the 90+3 minutes).
The Turkish national team will meet the Netherlands in the quarterfinals, which will take place on July 6 in Berlin. The match is scheduled to start at 23:45 Ashgabat time.
