Difficult homework can harm children

Scientists from Canada and Australia have found that difficult homework may do more harm than good.

The study, published in the British Journal of Sociology of Education, surveyed eight Canadian families with children in third grade.

The survey showed that all families encountered difficulties in completing math tasks. Because of this, children had disturbed sleep, overwork, decreased self-esteem and deteriorated relationships with parents.

Parents, in turn, could not help their children due to changed teaching methods.

It is important to note that the study covered a small number of families, so far-reaching conclusions cannot be drawn. However, it signals the problems of modern education, which does not take into account social factors and the psychological state of children and parents in the learning process. Snob.ru reports this.
