The “Arkadag” football club, representing the city of national importance of the same name, will play a friendly match with “Zenit” St. Petersburg within the framework of a training camp in the UAE.
The meeting will be held on February 21. The start time and location of the match will be known later, the press service of FC “Arkadag” reported.
“Zenit” is one of the most titled Russian clubs, champion of the USSR, nine-time champion of Russia, winner of the 2007/08 UEFA Cup and 2008 UEFA Super Cup.
At the moment, “Zenit” is in second place in the RPL standings. The team scored 36 points in 18 matches.
The upcoming meeting will be part of “Arkadag’s” preparations for the start of the 2024 Turkmenistan Championship, which will begin on March 4. In addition to the match with “Zenit”, the Turkmen club will play several more test games in Abu Dhabi, including on February 18 with “Paris NN” Nizhny Novgorod.
Let us remind that “Arkadag” was founded in April 2023, becoming the champion and winner of the Turkmenistan Cup already in its debut season. In the new season, the team intends to defend the championship title.
