The International Conference at the level of Ministers of Transport of Landlocked Developing Countries, organized by the Government of Turkmenistan under the auspices of the UN, summed up its results.
Noting that at present time transport activity is recovering around the world, albeit unevenly, and landlocked countries are lagging behind in this process, the forum participants noted that the international community urgently needs to mobilize investment, technology, and also technical assistance and capacity building for sustainable transport.
The speeches of the delegates highlighted the leadership of Turkmenistan in supporting the development of regional ties and the expansion of new trade routes that can provide the countries of Central Asia with more reliable transit and transport. The importance of new proposals voiced by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the first day of the forum was emphasized, in particular, on the establishment of a special working group under the auspices of the UN that will defend the interests of LLDCs, the development of a General Assembly Resolution “On enhancing the role of landlocked developing countries in the development and strengthening global transport cooperation”.
As a result, the forum participants signed the Final Statement of the Conference of Ministers of Transport of Landlocked Developing Countries.
