The most popular field of education among foreign students studying in Russia is medicine. High school graduates from all countries, including Turkmenistan, strive to enter medical faculties, reports TASS with the reference to press-service of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

“Russia is open for cooperation with friendly countries in the sphere of education and plans to be inserted into the global knowledge system”, - the message says.

It is noted that students from Kazakhstan (61 thousand students), Uzbekistan (48.7 thousand), China (32.6 thousand), Turkmenistan (30.6 thousand) and Tajikistan (23.1 thousand) come to Russia most of all for higher education.

The Ministry states that today there is a tendency to increase the number of applications from citizens from foreign countries who want to study at Russian universities on budget places.

In 2020, their number was 59,720 people, a year later this figure increased to 83,106, and in the current 2022, the number of applications remains at more than 83 thousand.

Reception of foreign citizens to the higher educational institutions of the Russian Federation is on the way as planned. Quotas, given to the foreigners to study on the budget basis in 2022 is equal to 23 thousand people, and in 2023 the number of budget places will be increased up to 30 thousand.

We remind that in June, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin agreed to create a joint Russian-Turkmen university.
