The President of Turkmenistan instructed to revise the prices for the Internet and other communication services, as well as to ensure the wide availability of the Internet for the population. Corresponding instructions were given at a working meeting on the development of the transport and communication complex held today.

Addressing Deputy Prime Minister Bayramgeldi Ovezov, who oversees this industry in the government, and the heads of the transport and communication complex, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that in accordance with the anti-crisis program for 2020-2021 and in connection with the widespread introduction of e-commerce, Internet services, remote work and training need to improve the quality and capabilities of communication services.

“As information technologies develop in the world, they should be widely implemented in all sectors of the economy, expand the range of services taking into account international experience, the leader of the nation emphasized, instructing to reconsider the prices for the Internet and other communication services, as well as ensure the widespread availability of the Internet for the population”, - said in an official material from the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

Noting the need to analyze the reasons for the decrease in the use of capacities and the growth rates of organizations and enterprises of the transport and communication complex, the leader of the nation ordered to ensure the availability of prices for communication and Internet services for the population, as well as the implementation of the tasks stipulated by the Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in 2019-2025.

“It is necessary to further improve the quality and throughput of communication services. The industry should introduce a wide range of modern technologies, expand communication services provided to the population, make Internet services publicly available,” Berdimuhamedov said, giving appropriate instructions to the head of the Turkmen Telecom agency Hajimyrat Hudaygulyev.
