Currently, within the framework of Turkmen-German cooperation, professors and physicians from the Federal Republic of Germany are on a working visit to Turkmenistan, the newspaper "Turkmenistan" reported. The German medical specialists are sharing their expertise in the fields of cardiology and cardiac surgery with their Turkmen colleagues.
Together, they continue their work on the effective implementation of new medical methods for the prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of heart diseases.
During their visit, the German medical specialists will carry out diagnostic and consultative work and, together with Turkmen doctors, perform cardiac surgery.
Cardiologist Professor Jürgen Hörer, director of the university clinic for congenital heart defects and pediatric cardiac surgery in Munich, says:
- Congenital heart disease is one of the most common medical conditions worldwide, affecting children from a very early age. Such heart conditions often require surgical treatment; however, some are highly complex, making timely surgical intervention critically important for newborns. Heart health is vital during the period of a child's physical development. Cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and Turkmenistan, particularly in the fields of cardiology and cardiac surgery, is becoming increasingly close, and significant results are being achieved in these areas. We regularly visit Turkmenistan and perform surgical operations alongside Turkmen doctors. While some congenital heart defects in children can be treated with simple surgical procedures, others require complex interventions that carry high risks.
