The President of Turkmenistan congratulated the participants of a forum held to mark the 30th anniversary of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has sent a congratulatory message to the participants of the international scientific-practical conference, "Milestones in the Development of Statehood, the Legal System, and Democracy in Neutral Turkmenistan," held to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of State, Law, and Democracy of Turkmenistan.

Drawing upon the foundations of statehood, the rule of law, and national democratic principles, our country is consistently developing civil society and strengthening the relationship between the state, society, and the individual. Relationships based on the law are built upon a high level of individual responsibility and require strict adherence to legal norms. "Thus, creation, innovation, and continuous improvement serve as the primary guiding principles for Turkmenistan. In contemporary Turkmen society, the individual is recognized as the highest value," the Address states.

The Turkmen National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan was established on October 23, 1996. Throughout its existence, the Institute has made a significant contribution to harmonizing national legislation with the norms of international law and improving the country’s legal system, as well as to conducting analytical work to ensure the fulfillment of Turkmenistan’s international obligations in the fields of human rights and international humanitarian law.

As an equal member of the United Nations, our state has acceded to fundamental international conventions, agreements, and treaties in the field of human rights. "Strictly adhering to its commitments under documents adopted by the international community, Turkmenistan is consistently incorporating universally recognized international norms into its national legislation and law-enforcement practice," the President noted.

From this perspective, important tasks include the scholarly analysis of the principles of statehood and the directions of societal development, as well as the conduct of research into the moral and legal aspects of enhancing the consciousness and potential of citizens, human rights, and social relations. The national plans define priority areas for the further improvement of the activities of state bodies and public associations regarding the safeguarding of human rights and freedoms, the incorporation of international legal standards into our country’s legislation, and their application in legal practice.

"I am convinced that the international scientific-practical conference 'Milestones in the Development of Statehood, the Legal System, and Democracy in Neutral Turkmenistan' will serve as a significant event for discussing the national principles of statehood, examining the harmonization of Turkmenistan’s legislative system with the norms of international law, exploring the paths for the development of national democracy, and promoting the peace-loving, good-neighborly, and humane policy pursued by our country!" the head of state concluded, wishing everyone good health, a long life, and great success in their work, reports TDH.
