The President of Turkmenistan congratulated the country's elders on the International Day of Older Persons

Today, the International Day of Older Persons—established by the United Nations General Assembly and holding a worthy place in Turkmenistan’s national calendar—is observed worldwide. On this occasion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to the elders and all citizens of Turkmenistan.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on the International Day of Older Persons—a day widely celebrated alongside the global community in independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan as a triumph of universal human values and lofty humanitarian principles. Respecting and honoring elders and upholding their dignity is a national principle rooted in millennia of history that sustains the continuity of generations. "I am firmly convinced that the celebrations dedicated to this international holiday during the year 'Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses'—a year marked by events of national and international significance honoring the 35th anniversary of our sacred independence—will inspire our esteemed elders, dear mothers, and all compatriots, and further strengthen their love for the Motherland," the Address states.

The counsel and wise guidance of elders, who serve as exemplary role models, form the foundation of upbringing. Their wealth of life and professional experience serves as a pillar for strengthening societal unity, raising generations in the spirit of profound patriotism and humanism, and confidently advancing the country along a bright path of constructive endeavor toward new horizons of development.

Today, to mark the international holiday honoring the older generation, musical celebrations and enriching cultural events are being held in cities and villages alike.

"The large-scale initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and Honorary Elder of Turkmenistan—Hero-Arkadag—as well as the wise counsel and guidance of our older generation (our dear mothers and respected elders), serve as a guarantee of societal unity and tranquility," the President concluded, wishing everyone robust health, a happy and prosperous life, and great success in their efforts to develop their native country, TDH reports.
