A delegation from the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan participated in the first meeting of the relevant working group, held from September 15 to 17 in Urumqi, China.

Customs officials from China and Central Asia met at the forum to lay the foundation for a new digital ecosystem for customs control, the Service’s website reports.

The participants discussed advanced risk management technologies, artificial intelligence algorithms, and smart data analytics, and also agreed on a draft "Cooperation Procedure" for the rapid exchange of data between customs services.

The strategic document on cooperation procedures is scheduled to be signed at the third China–Central Asia Summit in 2027. It aims to drastically accelerate the movement of goods across borders, enhance inspection accuracy, and make regional trade arteries even more secure.

As a first practical step, the parties agreed to consider launching a pilot information exchange, while Kazakhstan took up the mantle of hosting the next meeting.
