During a telephone conversation with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed his participation in the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State and the Caspian Environmental Summit, which will take place in Awaza in October. This was reported by TDH.

As noted, the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth and the Caspian Environmental Summit are scheduled for October 9 in the Awaza National Tourist Zone. Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the Russian leader's participation in these events would lend special significance to the forums.

During the conversation, the Head of State thanked Vladimir Putin for his personal contribution to strengthening interstate dialogue and expressed confidence that bilateral interaction would continue to foster the deepening of multifaceted Turkmen-Russian cooperation.

The parties emphasized that the strategic partnership with Russia remains a priority in Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, and that cooperation between the countries is successfully developing both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the UN, the CIS, the SCO, and other international organizations.

Particular attention in the conversation was paid to trade and economic partnership: Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed the readiness of Turkmenistan to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia in all areas of interest. Active development of inter-parliamentary contacts and ties with the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as the expansion of humanitarian cooperation in the fields of education, science, healthcare, and culture, were also noted.

At the conclusion of the conversation, the leaders of the two countries wished each other good health and further success, and wished the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia well-being and prosperity.

As previously reported, a series of major events will take place in the Awaza National Tourist Zone this October: the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan on October 8, and the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State and the Caspian Environmental Summit on October 9. Additionally, a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in Awaza on October 7.

Also scheduled are the International Women’s Dialogue "The Role of Women in Maintaining Peace and Achieving Sustainable Development," the international conference "Demographic Processes and Sustainable Development: Contemporary Challenges and International Experience," a CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly seminar on healthcare issues, a meeting of ministers from Caspian littoral states on the ecology of the Caspian Sea, and a high-level meeting of regional states and Afghanistan on the conservation of Central Asia’s water resources.

In addition to intergovernmental forums, the final of the "Tatar Kyzy – 2026" International Beauty and Talent Contest will take place in Awaza on October 7–8.
