Turkmenistan is participating in the 70th session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna

A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry Azat Ovezov, is participating in the 70th session of the IAEA General Conference, taking place in Vienna from September 14 to 18. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

In its statement, the Turkmen delegation congratulated the IAEA on its 70th anniversary, noting that this year also marks the 10th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s accession to the IAEA.

Turkmenistan has reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear and radiation safety, and the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the healthcare sector—including the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases—as well as to IAEA support for the International Scientific and Clinical Oncology Center in Ashgabat.

Representatives from Turkmenistan also participated in the IAEA Scientific Forum "Rays of Hope: Realizing the Potential of Cancer Care," where they presented the country's initiative, "Atoms for Landlocked Developing Countries," aimed at expanding access to the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology.
