US President Donald Trump promised to pay 5 thousand USD to every adult resident of the country if the Republican Party retains control of both chambers of Congress following the midterm elections. He made this statement on the evening of September 9 at the party's national convention in Dallas, TASS reports.

"I make the following promise: if Republicans win the U.S. House and Senate—both chambers—I will pay a dividend of 5 thousand USD to every adult U.S. citizen, thanks to our economic successes," Trump declared.

According to him, Americans "will have to spend" the funds they receive "in the US." The president specified that the payment would be called "Trump dividends."

Congressional midterm elections will be held on November 3. Voters will elect 33 of the 100 members of the Senate and all 435 members of the House of Representatives. Currently, Republicans control both chambers of the legislature.
