Lee Won-jae, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan, visited the Maya Kuliyeva Turkmen National Conservatory, where he met with the institution's Vice-Rector Baymyrat Gutlymyradov, vocalist Begench Gayypov, and other representatives of the conservatory.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to intensify cultural exchange between the Republic of Korea and Turkmenistan.

As noted in a statement by the Korean diplomatic mission, Turkmen vocalist Begench Gayypov performed in August as an artist representing Turkmenistan at the "Arirang Meets the Great Silk Road" concert.

The event was organized by the National Asian Cultural Center (ACC) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea to mark the successful holding of the first Republic of Korea–Central Asia Summit. At the concert, Gayipov performed the Korean folk song "Miryang Arirang."
