Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ashgabat, Alena Grand, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.

Meredov congratulated the diplomat on her appointment and wished her success in her work. Grand succeeded Philippe Merlin, who had headed the French diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan since 2023.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Turkmen-French relations. Particular attention was paid to intensifying political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, as well as interaction within international organizations.

Turkmenistan and France have expressed their readiness to make joint efforts to further strengthen the partnership between the two countries, the statement notes.
