Turkmen athletes won gold and bronze medals on the first day of wrestling competitions at the VI World Nomad Games, which are taking place in the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to tournament organizers, competitions in the over 100 kg weight category in three wrestling disciplines—Mongolian wrestling, kurash, and goresh—concluded on September 1 at the “Gazprom” Sports and Recreation Complex in Cholpon-Ata.

Turkmen athletes achieved their best result in goresh, a national wrestling event, where Annagurban Allaberdiyev won the championship. Silver in this event went to Asankeldi Nurkazym uulu of Kyrgyzstan, while athletes from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan shared bronze.

Kemal Kemalov earned another medal for the Turkmenistan team, winning bronze in kurash. Numonjon Rajabov of Uzbekistan won the event, while Iran's Sadegh Azarang won silver, and an athlete from Kyrgyzstan took the bronze.

In the third discipline of the day – Mongolian wrestling – Mongolian representative Anar Dorj won gold, Russian Monge Ertine Kuular received a silver medal, and bronze medals went to athletes from China and Kyrgyzstan.

Following the results of the competition, the winners received cash prizes of 100 thousand soms, silver medalists – 80 thousand soms, and bronze medalists – 50 thousand soms.

The VI World Nomad Games are held from August 31 to September 6, their main events are organized in the city of Cholpon-Ata. Athletes from more than 100 countries of the world take part in international competitions, competitions are held in 43 sports.
