Istanbul Airport sets new European passenger traffic record

On August 16, Istanbul Airport (IST) set another European airport record for daily passenger traffic and number of flights, according to Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdülkadir Uraloğlu.

"Istanbul Airport has once again broken historical European records for the number of flights and passenger traffic. A new peak was reached on August 16. The airport handled 290 287 passengers and 1 739 flights," Minister X wrote on social media.

According to him, Istanbul Airport continues to break its own records on a daily basis, thereby strengthening its position as a global aviation hub.

The new figure exceeded the previous record set on August 9, when the airport handled 289 732 passengers.

Istanbul Airport is one of Europe's largest aviation hubs and Türkiye’s key international transit hub. It handles thousands of direct and transit flights daily to virtually every region of the world.
