Kyrgyzstan is entering the final phase of preparations for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit of Heads of State and the VI World Nomad Games, Kazinform reports.

The meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council will be held in Bishkek from August 31 to September 1, 2026, under the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan. UN Secretary-General António Guterres is expected to attend.

The new capital stadium will host the grand opening ceremony of the VI World Nomad Games. The main competitive, cultural, and scientific program of the Games will take place from September 2 to 6 in Cholpon-Ata and the Kyrchyn Gorge in the Issyk-Kul Region.

In preparation for the events, various government agencies are involved in the country, ensuring the organizational, infrastructural, and logistical aspects of the summit and the Games. In particular, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health is organizing medical support for the events, including the deployment of mobile medical units and the creation of an operational coordination headquarters.

It was previously reported that a commemorative silver coin was introduced into circulation in Kyrgyzstan in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
